Richard Gorman

Richard Gorman is an accomplished and recognised industry leader in Australian Agribusiness. Richard joined Kalfresh in 1994, with qualifications in agronomy and agriculture, and together with founders Robert and Barry Hinrichsen, has overseen the growth of Kalfresh into an innovative and competitive vertically-integrated horticultural business.

Richard has been hands-on in most facets of the organisation and understands the entire supply chain from growing, harvesting, packing, logistics and marketing.

In his role as CEO, Richard is focused on offering customers consistent, high-quality, reliable year-round supply, while ensuring strong, sustainable returns to growers.

Richard travels extensively to observe and learn from world leading horticultural businesses and has been mentored by industry champions in the United States. He is a past member of the AUSVEG industry committee.

Kalfresh is a long-term, dedicated supporter of food waste organisations like Oz Harvest and Foodbank and has a company-wide ethos to do what it can to reduce food waste from the paddock and beyond.

Richard has overseen Kalfresh’s expansion into prepared, processed vegetables to capitalise on consumer demand for healthy fast, convenient foods.

The diversification into value-adding has enabled a greater percentage of the crops to be sold, has reduced food waste and improved returns to farm.

The company’s latest move into value-adding food waste comes via the new Scenic Rim Agricultural Industrial Precinct and Bioenergy project.

Work is underway to deliver a hub for food manufacturing and bioenergy production at Kalbar. By mid 2027 the business will turn their production and farm residues into renewable power, gas and bio-fertiliser via an anaerobic digestion system.

Support my CookOff to feed people in need.

I'm taking part in OzHarvest's CEO CookOff this October to cook meals and raise crucial funds to feed people in need in my local community.

With the cost of living increasing, the demand for food relief in Australia is at an all-time high as people struggle to make ends meet.

I'm teaming up with Australia's most talented chefs, and other CEOs and leaders to reduce food waste and make a difference to Australia’s most vulnerable.

Every $1 donated to OzHarvest means they can deliver 2 meals to those in need.

Every donation counts, so please sponsor me to cook, connect and create change to help those doing it tough.
