This October, I am proud to be taking part in my second OzHarvest’s CEO CookOff in Perth, joining business and community leaders alongside some of Australia’s most talented chefs to cook, connect and create change for people experiencing food insecurity.

For me, this event is about much more than cooking a meal. It is about using leadership, networks and community connection to make a tangible difference for people doing it tough across Perth and Western Australia.

Throughout my career, I have worked across operations, business development, community partnerships and stakeholder engagement, while also contributing extensively to mental health, suicide prevention, family and domestic violence advocacy, lived experience leadership and community wellbeing.

I have seen firsthand that hardship rarely exists in isolation. Financial pressure, housing stress, mental health challenges, family crisis and the rising cost of everyday essentials can quickly leave individuals and families struggling to meet even their most basic needs.

And right now, food insecurity is affecting Australians from all walks of life.

As the cost of living continues to place increasing pressure on households, more people are seeking food relief — including working families, older Australians, young people and people who may never have imagined they would need assistance.

That is why I have committed to raising funds for OzHarvest.

OzHarvest does extraordinary work rescuing quality surplus food that would otherwise go to waste and getting it to charities and community organisations supporting people who need it most.

Your donation creates an immediate impact.

Every $1 donated helps OzHarvest deliver 2 meals to people in need.

That means:

$25 can help provide 50 meals.
$50 can help provide 100 meals.
$100 can help provide 200 meals.
$500 can help provide 1,000 meals.

And donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.

For businesses and corporate leaders, this is also an opportunity to demonstrate what meaningful social impact looks like — supporting an initiative that addresses food insecurity, food waste and community wellbeing at the same time.

Leadership is not simply about what we achieve within our organisations. It is also about how we use our influence, resources and connections to strengthen the communities around us.
