From professional kitchens to 14 million followers, Andy Hearnden, better known as Andy Cooks, has become one of the world's most-watched chefs. He's determined to help people cook better food at home, sharing the skills, dishes, and stories behind great cooking with an audience that tunes in 140 million times a month across YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.
Named YouTube Australia's Top Creator in 2023 and TikTok's Food Creator of the Year in 2025, Andy makes a mix of educational and entertaining food videos designed to inspire people to cook better at home.
The Kiwi chef produces weekly YouTube videos that walk viewers through a recipe from start to finish, alongside daily 60-second videos across all his channels, filmed from his home studio in Sydney. In 2023, Andy published his first cookbook, Andy Cooks: The Cookbook, featuring his favourite recipes to cook for family and friends, and he's currently hard at work on his second.
In 2025, Andy joined MasterChef Australia as a guest judge and launched In Service, an original YouTube series that sees him step back behind the pass at some of the best restaurants in Australia and New Zealand, spending 48 hours in each kitchen to see if he can still hack it in the professional brigade. The series has taken him through Attica, Big Dons, Margaret, Saint Peter, and Ahi.
Andy spent 20+ years cooking in professional kitchens before beginning his content journey in November 2021. He now uses that experience to teach home cooks and aspiring chefs to cook better food, and to encourage people to enjoy more meals at home with friends and family.
Over his career, Andy has learned from some incredible chefs in restaurants across the world, from Auckland to London, Sydney, and Melbourne. At 24, he landed his first Head Chef role at the Great Eastern Dining Room in Shoreditch, London, and eventually moved into the business side of hospitality, managing restaurants, cafes, and bars.
Andy Cooks' videos are all about entertaining, educational content that's easy to recreate at home, showcasing great dishes from around the world. His videos highlight good produce, good ingredients, good skills, and how to bring it all together into a great meal. For Andy, it's all about good food, for good people
